Data Deletion

How to request the erasure of your personal data.

Your Right to Erasure

You may at any time ask Université Française d'Abidjan (UFRA) to erase the personal data concerning you, whatever the way you sent it to us: website form, WhatsApp, Messenger or Instagram message, online advertisement, or an exchange during an event.

This page describes the procedure. It complements our privacy policy, which sets out all the processing we carry out.

How to Submit Your Request

Send an email to [email protected] with the subject line "Request for deletion of my data", specifying:

  • Your first and last name
  • The email address or the phone number you used to communicate with us — this is what allows us to locate your file
  • Whether your request covers all of your data or only part of it (for example, only the conversation history)

We may ask you for an additional element allowing us to verify your identity. This precaution exists to prevent a third party from obtaining the deletion of your data in your place.

Your request is processed within a maximum of 30 days. You receive a confirmation by email once the operation has been carried out.

What Is Deleted, What Is Kept

The following is erased or irreversibly anonymised:

  • Your first name, last name, email address and phone number
  • The history of your WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram conversations with UFRA
  • Your application file and the supporting documents you submitted
  • The origin and campaign data associated with your first contact

The following is kept, and we owe you the explanation:

  • The record of your consent and of its withdrawal, which is our legal justification and without which we could not prove that we acted properly
  • The documents that Ivorian regulations require us to keep, in particular accounting records if you were enrolled and made a payment
  • Aggregated, anonymous statistics, which no longer allow you to be identified

Data Originating from WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram

When you write to us on one of these platforms, two separate parties hold data: UFRA, for the copy recorded in its system, and Meta Platforms, for the data it processes as the operator of the service.

The request described on this page covers the copy held by UFRA. For the data kept by Meta, including the content of the conversation on your own device, the request must be addressed directly to Meta from your account settings.

Deleting the conversation from your phone does not erase the copy recorded in our system: the email request remains necessary.

A Less Drastic Alternative

If your aim is simply to stop receiving information from us, there is no need to have your file deleted. Write to us at [email protected] asking to withdraw your marketing consent, or reply STOP to one of our messages.

We then stop all information communications, while keeping your file if you are an applicant or an enrolled student. This is often what people actually want, and it avoids losing an application in progress.

If You Disagree

If you believe your request has not been handled properly, you may file a complaint with the Telecommunications/ICT Regulatory Authority of Côte d'Ivoire (ARTCI), the authority competent in matters of personal data protection.
